Blackwater Governors
Mrs Janine Bisson

Chair of Governors

jbisson@blackwater.tpacademytrust.org

I am a keen advocate for Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM)- I currently work as the STEM Project Coordinator for Cornwall Council bringing awareness of the opportunities for learning within STEM but also developing careers guidance for young people. A key interest for me is considering which groups of young people are underrepresented within STEM and how we can work to address this imbalance. I have over 10 years’ experience working with young people through teaching Science and Environmental Education. I am passionate about the environment, I feel strongly that it is important to work with young people to provide opportunities for them to take positive action for their environment.

Mr Marc Hurrell

Staff Governor

MHurrell@blackwater.tpacademytrust.org

As an experienced teacher and school leader, I am excited to become a governor at Blackwater School. Since taking on a role in the Senior Leadership Team at the school, I have relished the opportunity to work in an environment that offers all children the highest standard of education and support to ensure that they are emotionally and socially prepared to achieve their full potential. I have a passion for Geography, Music and curriculum development and believe that a school’s curriculum offer should reflect and recognise its local community. After working away from Cornwall for many years, I am excited to return to my home county and help deliver a curriculum that celebrates the rich and diverse history of our local area. As a staff governor I look forward to playing an even greater role in delivering all of the things that make Blackwater such a special school to be part of.

I currently work in Wheal Friendly as the Nursery lead. The children call me Mrs. Sprinkles!

I am also a member of Blackwater Village Trust and would like to continue to build our community links.
